Our November 10th Gathering

Renowned fiddler Frank Ferrel will lead our November workshop. He plans to share his own slow air, “Memories of Skye,” as well as a Scottish hornpipe and a reel. The sheet music for this month’s tunes can be found here.

Tune Tales

Every month Alan Wilson researches the monthly tunes and writes a blog sharing their history and other fun facts about them. You can find the Tune Tales blog on our website under Fun Stuff, or click here for more information about this month’s tunes.

Concert Update

After learning that Monadnock Music will be hosting a Burns Night in Peterborough, we consulted with the planning team at the Park Theater and made the decision to cancel our Burns program to avoid competing for audience members.

Fortunately, we may have an opportunity to play a concert at Bass Hall in Peterborough after all. This would happen on a Saturday afternoon in May, exact date to be determined. Stay tuned and start practicing those concert tunes!

Calling All Composers!

This coming March, our gathering will be dedicated to tunes written by members of our club. If you have an original tune you’d like to share with us, please send it to our Tune Master, Alan Wilson, before February 9. More details here.

October Gathering Summary

The first workshop of the new season was led by one of the founders, Barbara McOwen, who travelled north from Arlington to regale us with the history of old-style 16-bar reels and how they were supplanted in the 1930’s by modern 32-bar reels.
