“Having fun with Scottish Music”

Our November 8th Gathering

This month’s workshop will be with Janine Randall, the director of the Ceilidh Trail School of Celtic Music. We will explore the differences between Cape Breton and Scottish music, including how to give a march/strathspey/reel set a Cape Breton sound.

Two New Board Members Needed

We are looking for new board members to fill two vacancies. We meet on the first Wednesday of the month at 7 pm on Zoom. Meetings are an hour or less. We plan the gatherings, look for workshop leaders, review the website and plan concerts. It’s really a pretty small commitment. If Wednesday nights don’t work, but you’d like to serve, suggest another night and we’ll poll the rest of the board. We need you!! Email Anne at nhscottishmusic@gmail.com.

Grants and Scholarships

We are happy to report that we were awarded a $1000 grant from the Frederick Smyth Institute of Music. This is an unrestricted grant, which is so helpful for running our programs. We still have funds from the Couch Grants restricted to scholarships. We have granted just over $800 in scholarships this year and also have funds from donations to the Daniel Creighton Scholarship Fund.

Ever wonder what your Board does? Join us for Board Meetings! All meetings are open to our members. We meet (usually) the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM on Zoom. Meetings are an hour or less and we would welcome anyone who is interested to see how we run the organization. Send an email to nhscottishmusic@gmail.com and we’ll send you the Zoom link.
