In Memory of Frank StewartWe have lost our wonderful mandolin player and former board member. Frank passed away on December 11 after receiving a diagnosis of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in September. He was a man of many talents. One of the members of that session, David MacAdam, wrote a tune for Frank after hearing about the diagnosis. David wrote: I never met Frank in person, and only knew him for a few years through Art's zoom sessions. Even with that limited acquaintance I grew quite fond of Frank, and admired his dedication to his music. When I learned in early October of his diagnosis of stage 4 pancreatic cancer, I did the only thing I could for him. I wrote him a tune. He made a special attempt to attend the zoom the first time I played it, and one last time when I first played it on the pipes. He was all smiles both times, and I knew then I had hit a home run. I think Frank would be delighted if he knew his tune was played at his service, and even more so if he knew it entered your repertoire. The suddenness of his demise left him little choice but to hope to live on in spirit through his tune.
