April Gathering

We’ll have a treat in store when Peter Macfarlane comes from Vermont to teach us how to bring a strathspey to life.

May Concert with Harpist Dominique Dodge

On May 19, following our regular monthly gathering, harpist Dominique Dodge will be performing at the Concord Community Music School. Tickets are affordable and limited so get yours soon.

And the Candidates Are…

May is the month when we hold our annual meeting to elect board members and to learn about NH Scottish Music Club’s state of affairs. You will receive an email with a ballot to elect our President, Vice President, and 2-year Member-At-Large prior to the annual meeting.

We are fortunate that Anne Baier has agreed to serve another term as President. Gordon Peery has volunteered to step into the Vice President position and Art Hull has agreed to serve another term as Member-At-Large. Read more about each of them here.

We are grateful for the years that Debby Dell’Orfano has served on the board as Vice President.

Because we have a concert scheduled after our May workshop, following the counting of ballots we will make a motion to adjourn the annual meeting and reconvene it during our June gathering, when we will hear the reports from the treasurer and various committees.

Thank You, New Volunteers, and Looking for More

At the March gathering Deb Dell’Orfano, Carol Kelly, and Herb Archer orchestrated putting up a white board with opportunities for members to sign up for a variety of volunteer roles, including managing our facebook page, setting up and taking down our tea table, and learning how to manage our website. Thank you to all who stepped forward to help share the work and fun of our all-volunteer organization. And thank you, Deb, Carol, and Herb for implementing a terrific idea.

Following the May elections for board members, the board will meet to appoint someone to serve as a member-at-large for a one year term. This is a great way to learn the inner workings of NH Scottish Music Club, get to know the board members, and have a chance to help steer the organization into the future. We meet via Zoom at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of the month. If you are interested please speak to any board member.

Scholarship Money Still Available

Two members of our club have been granted scholarships this spring.  But we still have monies available.  The deadline for submissions is May 1, 2024. 

We are very fortunate to have many music camps in New England that focus on Scottish music.  Summer is not the only time for these experiences.  Do your research and when you find something that fits into your schedule, fill out the application on our website for consideration.
