Our March 15th Gathering - Keith Murphy

Keith Murphy will lead our March 15 workshop. Note that March 15 is the 3rd Sunday. Our date has changed this month in order to accommodate the Mandolin Festival at CCMS. Keith has chosen 2 jigs for us. Cavers of Kirkcudbright by Mike Vass, and The Coming Dawn, a tune of his. He has also created a “harmony” for Snug in a Blanket, one of our concert tunes. This is not a classic harmony, but more of a rhythmic one. The theme of the workshop is rhythm. Click here for more information about the workshop and here for the PDFs. Concert Rehearsal After Tea and Short Jam

In the wake of our very successful Havenwood concert, I'm excited to start working again on more of our new sets for the April concert!  Because of the limited amount of time we have and the amount of new repertoire, I am intending to run a light rehearsal starting promptly at 4:00 after an abbreviated jam session.  These are the sets I'd like to work on, so please come having practiced them:

-Pipe Polka (Royal Scots Polka)

-Reel Set 2 (Hills of Kaitoke, etc)

-Pipe Marches (Peat Fire Flame, etc)

 It is also likely that we will drop some of our older sets due to the significant length of the program.  Please keep an eye out for future communications related to that. Thanks in advance and looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Concert at Havenwood

Members of the orchestra gave a well attended concert at the Havenwood Retirement Community in Concord on February 12. For the first time, we had two pianos going at the same time. Annie led us from her keyboard and Gordon kept up a lively accompaniment from his. Kip involved the audience in song and the concert was very well received.

Scholarships Reminder

We received two grants for scholarships this year. Any member who wants to attend a summer program, take lessons, take online courses, etc. is welcome to apply.

Join Us for Board Meetings

Ever wonder what your Board does? Join us for Board Meetings! All meetings are open to our members. We meet (usually) the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM on Zoom. Meetings are an hour or less and we would welcome anyone who is interested to see how we run the organization. Send an email to nhscottishmusic@gmail.com and we’ll send you the Zoom link.
