Our February 8th Gathering - Location Change

We will be doing another rehearsal of our concert music this month, focused on the set list for the Havenwood Heritage Heights concert on February 12th. Find the set list and more information about that concert on this page, and be sure to review the arrangement notes.

We are changing the location of our gatherings back to the Concord Community Music School starting this month. For details about this decision, click here.

Tune Tales

Each month our Tune Master, Alan Wilson, selects a few tunes to explore and writes a blog post sharing their history and fun facts about them. This month he takes a look at three tunes in flat keys: “The Beauty of the North,” “The Bee’s Wing,” and “Lady Elizabeth Cole’s Reel.” Click here to read more, and click here for the music.

With Fond Memories of Daniel Creighton

Dan passed away on Monday, January 5. He was a fiddler and long-time member, who encouraged his daughter, Dorinda, to take up the fiddle and play with him. The two of them were a team. Dan had the most wonderful smile and clearly enjoyed playing with Dorinda and the group.

Nine members of NHSMC played at his service, and then jammed at the reception afterwards. Several family members and guests thanked us for playing and said how much they had enjoyed it.

As a parting gift, Dan asked that memorial donations be made to NHSMC. We have received several donations because of his generosity.

We will certainly miss him. Read his obituary below.

Scholarships Reminder

We received two grants for scholarships this year. Any member who wants to attend a summer program, take lessons, take online courses, etc. is welcome to apply.

Ever wonder what your Board does? Join us for Board Meetings! All meetings are open to our members. We meet (usually) the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM on Zoom.
