Ed Pearlman has performed, taught, and promoted fiddle music, particularly that of Scotland and Cape Breton, for over 45 years, throughout the US, in Canada and Scotland. He has worked the Boston Scottish Fiddle Club, his family band, and with many of the top fiddlers from Scotland and Cape Breton. In 2024, due to his lifelong work as a performer, teacher, organizer, distributor, and writer, Ed was inducted into the Scots Trad Music Hall of Fame, a very rare honor for a non-Scot.
Laura Scott has been performing and teaching Highland Dance since the 1970s. She has choreographed and directed dance performances from the festival stage to "Brigadoon", and, in addition to her work with Ed Pearlman, Laura has danced for performances by Alasdair Fraser, Natalie MacMaster, Jerry Holland, Tony Cuffe, Aly Bain, Joe Cormier, and many others. Her innovative choreographies incorporate improvisation and a variety of mostly traditional dance forms, including Cape Breton stepdance, Western Isles folk dance, Highland, and contemporary dance. She enjoys teaching, both privately and at summer camps such as Pinewoods, Gaelic Roots, and her own summer camp, which celebrates its 30th year this summer!
Ed Pearlman and Laura Scott will talk about and demonstrate tunes for different styles of Scottish and Cape Breton dance (there are at least 7), and Ed will teach a few of the tunes. The type, tempo and feel of the tunes change depending on the style or origin of the dance.

The parking lot for the Music School is off of Fayette St.
Everyone please arrive in time for a prompt 1 p.m. start.
Following a break for stretching, refreshments, and visiting, we resume with our regular tune circle.
If you are coming for the first time, note that the rear parking lot off of Fayette St. provides the easiest access. We always try to have extra copies of the music for newcomers, however ear-players are welcome as well.
