We are excited to announce two developments with the New Hampshire Scottish Music Club.
Annelise Papinsick has accepted the volunteer role of Music Director. Her skills in this area became especially evident with our two concerts this spring, where she led several of the rehearsals and conducted both concerts. Her formal musical training and her enthusiasm for our repertoire make her an ideal person to assume this position. Gordon Peery, who has informally served as orchestra leader for the last couple of years, will continue as primary piano player, and will work closely with Annelise to advance the goal of perpetual improvement of our group. In addition to serving as a board member, Annelise is a member of the music committee.
Second, after many years of using the Concord Community Music School for rehearsals, we have decided to move to the Wesley Methodist Church, which is on Clinton Street in Concord. The rental expense would be the same, however the rehearsal environment is superior, both visually and acoustically. It is easy to get to, and there is an abundance of parking available. Additionally, the venue would be an excellent site for a Concord-based concert, which is under serious consideration by the board.
We are confident these changes will enhance the quality of our playing experience and the satisfaction of our monthly gatherings.
There are a small number of music stands at the church, but attendees are asked to bring their own.
The rehearsal area is on two levels, with the piano movable to the front, as needed.
The acoustics are sublime.
Alternative rehearsal space, for the rare occasions when the sanctuary is in use, is comparable to the Music School space, and is acoustically isolated from the sanctuary
Coffee and tea break happen in the entry area of the Church (where the Church itself holds its social hour.
