Meet the Candidates

Frank is a long time Scottish history and culture enthusiast. He has listened to Scottish folk songs, bagpipe tunes, and Scottish country dance tunes for many years. He began to learn to play mandolin after his retirement. Playing music with the Scottish music club has provided a supportive and fun learning experience. He looks forward to helping out as the need arises.

Frank was appointed to the board to fill the vacant Member-at-Large position and wishes to continue serving in that position. He has also agreed to begin a three-year term on the Music Committee.

Soon after becoming an active member of SRS in 2003 Connie joined the board as a member-at-large and then as secretary. She took over as Granite Skyes editor in 2014 after the passing of Audrey Danielson. In 2020 she joined the board again as a member-at-large and then agreed to step in as Secretary when that position became vacant. She has also been serving on the website development team and the Music Committee.

Since joining SRS, Connie has always been impressed with the welcoming attitude of its members. Playing with this warm-hearted group always brings her great joy. She is excited about the recent changes to the organization that the board has worked on during the past year and hopes to continue helping SMC grow and thrive as we continue to develop our new website and work to attract new members.

Alan has been a member of SRSNH since about 2004 (in New Jersey), and performed in a few NEFFA concerts as an 'away' member. After retiring from Rutgers Medical School in 2009 and moving to New Hampshire he played accordion in many small concerts, but regrets he never was in one of the Galas. The Walker Concert was maybe the closest thing.

He has served as board-appointed member-at-large (2015) and was talked by Kip into taking over from Mike Vose as President in 2016.

He grew into the position of Treasurer in 2020, taking up the reins from Allan Chertok. For several years he has also served as our Tune Master, is part of the website team, and has recently been appointed to the Music Committee.

Alan is a regular player in other music groups, including the Falmouth Maine based Fiddle-icious Orchestra which toured in Scotland in 2022. He is able to play the guitar and fiddle, but prefers the utility of the 'Box', and keeps one across the country with each of his three kids in TN, IA, and WA.
